What is DiveDuino?
Right now Diveduino will not replace your dive computer, but it can log your depth and temperature during your dive, saving it to a MicroSd Card in a TEXT file format so you can import it to excel and do your fancy dive profile graphics, no need of special $100 USD cables that all the diving equipment manufacturing companies sell. Plus it has a display for that information with a actual graph of your dive profile.
How it came to my mind?
DiveDuino came to my mind since I am an active diver and I enjoy the sport. I am an electrical engineer and at work I came across with the Arduino platform. Dive computers are expensive, if you want all the fancy features, you can find some computers for about $150 USD and others for about $1500 USD. Every basic dive computer has this indicators: No Decompression Limit(NDL), depth, temperature and elapsed time. So why not create something with the help of the Arduino open source platform, I found a sensor that could interact with Arduino and the rest is the prototype that I am building.
Update 02/05/13 New Board
This is the new board i made for the new display. It works great and hopefully i can finish this project soon and put the sensor in a housing. I think i also need to update the part list for the project.
Update 02/01/13
After some changes on my life and some vacation time i am back to continue this. The kickstarter project did not work as i wanted but its ok i think i learned my lesson. On December Adafruit change the board layout for the OLED Screen and i had to change the pcb and order a new one. I took the chance to make some modifications to it. I will upload a video soon about the new board working. I have not made progress with the housing because of $$$ so i will be funding it my self, will be back soon with some more news !!!!...
Update 10/31/12 Diveduino on the New Board V1.1
I got the new boards and worked on the for the past days. Everything worked out as I expected and now i think we have the electronic part ready. This weekend i will get the new board for the sensor mount, i will work on that and probe it out. If everything goes well, I feel confident with the electronic part and I will proceed to the housing fabrication. I uploaded a video and some pictures so take a look at them and don't forget to visit the kickstarer project.
Update 10/17/12 Diveduino board working and the next one in process
I just finished the assembly of the first board it is working pretty good i just found some issues that need to be corrected. So I designed a second board and guess what i reduce the size of it almost by HALF..
I will have the new board in about two weeks, right now i will start thinking on the housing assembly :)
I am leaving you and update on the following youtube Video
Also another big NEWS
I started a kickstarter project, please take a look and express your support to the project by funding it.
Thanks Again and see you soon

Update 10/2/12 - After my Trip to the Texas Flower Gardens
So no good news really, i went diving two weeks a go to the Texas Flower Gardens, it was really good diving, it was my first "live aboard" trip and let me tell you i had fun. The dive sites are awesome but yea deep around 80+ ft . It was also my first dive with nitrox and i did not feel tired a lot after 5 dives in one day. So anyway getting to the diveduino point, the housing did not stand the pressure of 80 ft, i brought it with me on the first dive without the electronics inside and it flooded. The good thing is that it did not leak from the o-ring but from the sensor, i guess i will have to focus my work in finding a way to put that sensor tight to hold that pressure, i mean the pool at 9 feet is good but at 80 is a different thing, it did not flood a lot which is good.
I also worked on a pcb design, i got it back from the manufacturer and i am planing on putting all the components together during the next weeks.
So keep i will keep you in the loop of the updates. My next diving trip is on December to Coiba island in Panama.

Divduino Pool Test
With the new prototype done, I took Dividuino to a dive on a friends pool. Take a look to the Pool Test page for more details

New video with the last protoype, this is getting better..
So i improve the board and i will be working right now in a quick underwater case and i will do some modifications to the software to get it ready for my trip to the TEXAS FLOWER GARDENS aboard the M/V Fling.
New Pics...
I just finished doing the third version and here are some pictures, now it is small, about 3 x 2 inches and ready to go on a dive, i added the RTC and the Openlog logger and it is working !!!!!... As soon as i get my Regulators back because they are in service THANKS to OCEANIC and their backordered pieces.
More to come !!!
I will be adding more information about the project, such as the code, component list etc....
